The Great American Trailer Park Musical
music and lyrics by David Nehls, book by Betsy Kelso
Directed by Amy Fox
Music Directors - Darren Gage and Tristian Luysterburg
Stage Manager - Judi Liebert
There's a new tenant at Armadillo Acres and she's wreaking havoc all over Florida's most exclusive trailer park. When Pippi, the stripper on the run, comes between an agoraphobic housewife, Jeannie, and her toll collector husband, the “Storm’s A-Brewin’” and it ain’t your run-of-the-mill hurricane. Don’t miss this campy, caustic musical fable that has everything from strippers to Costco.
Note: all roles are major as this is an ensemble cast
Jeannie Garstecki: (female, 25-45) A 20 year resident of Armadillos Acres; a beautiful and smart girl who married her high school sweetheart; became a mother at 17; after a devastating personal loss is now an agoraphobic who hasn't left her trailer in years. As her husband drifts further away, she finds the strength and determination to get him back.
Norbert Garstecki: (male, 25-45) Jeannie's husband; a toll collector; former high school football star who's current state now reflects the stress of his marriage to an agoraphobic. While he tries to be a good husband he hasn't got the emotional or intellectual tools to help his wife change. He has always been faithful, until he meets a beautiful stripper.
Pippi: (Female 18-35) A beauty with a great body; a professional stripper; a survivor who has always gotten by on her looks and talent; fleeing from some bad choices and a bad relationship Pippi comes to Armadillo Acres to try to make some changes in her life. (Show requires this character to perform a strip tease down to bra & panties)
Duke: (male, 18-28) Pippi's obsessive, possessive, Magic Marker sniffing boyfriend; not the brightest guy south of the Mason Dixon line; leaves a trail of disaster in his wake and his arrival at the trailer park is full of surprises.
Betty: (female, 25-50) Armadillo Acres leasing agent (and resident) makes it her business to know everyone and everything that is going on. Although a self proclaimed "Bad Ass", Betty is more of a mother hen to the residents of the trailer park and is fairly grounded, earthy, and dry.
Linoleum, "Lin": (female, 18-35) Born on a kitchen floor, Lin is often self absorbed and a smart ass with a touch of a wild past. With a husband on death row Lin is focused on the sex she isn't getting and keeping her husband from getting the chair.
Donna, "Pickles": (female 17-25) A newlywed 'teen', called Pickles because she is prone to hysterical pregnancies. Her husband is from the big city (Jacksonville) and is a bit fancier than she is. His parent's have not been supportive of the marriage so Pickles is determined to give them a family of their own, even if she has to fake it. Not the brightest bulb in the box but airy, sweet, and blissfully ignorant. (Role also doubles as Tina).
